Skill and Chill: Get Loose and paint Romantic Florals
In this Skill and Chill watercolor lesson we'll make friends with our spray bottles and learn a single but MASSIVELY versatile way to get loose, organic, fluid shapes onto our paper with more precision and focus.
Learning to embrace the flow will give us gorgeous, romantic, on-trend dried floral paintings! You won't be able to stop creating these soft and ethereal beauties once you discover how they are and once you start finding your watercolor flow.
SKILL AND CHILL: WHAT IS IT?
I believe that we can have our cake and eat it too:
- we can relax, have fun, find a beautiful space of mental focus and escape
- WHILE learning valuable and digestible skill tidbits that help us build an ever more beautiful and skillful watercolor painting practice.
WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?
This is an all-levels class - whether you're a newbie with doubts about your level of skill or a regular creator looking for more chance, accident, flow, and frolic!
(...though if you're very experienced with watercolor and you do a lot of wet-in-wet work this is probably something you know well already, and this class may be redundant for you!)
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN/DO TODAY?
One of the things I hear the most often is "I want to loosen up, but I don't know how."
A lot of artists will tell you that looseness and freedom are a mindset and an emotion. I don't disagree, but I think that there's a hidden alternate truth to uncover: sometimes our mindset follows our paint!
Looseness can also be acquired from a few simple tricks of tools and observation that this class dives into deeply.
Your "paint loose" mindset will usually fall in line when you see how much fun it is to get so much complexity in paint from so LITTLE stress and sweat!
WHAT DO YOU GET?
As with other Skill and Chill sessions, this session is beautiful in its brevity, clear in its focus (florals and organic shapes with the spray bottle) and relaxed and fun in its approach.
You'll create subtle textures in a free-flowing practice session, gorgeous mixed-media floral bouquet paintings in the three main lessons ...and we'll even have a fun 20 minute bonus lesson at the end!
WHY IS THIS CLASS PRICED HOW IT IS (as in, not a lot?)
It's tough out there, and I really feel like we can use some accessible, low-stress and low-stakes painting sessions that can be completed quickly, you know?
I wanted to create focused classes that help us nail some useful watercolor techniques but also allow us to relax and enjoy a simple small win or two.
I can't wait to see your florals, and I can't wait to see how you're inspired to create.
